Timothy Matthew Slemmons is one of my doctoral advisors at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, where he serves as Assistant Professor of Homiletics and Worship has just released a new book, Year D: A Quadrennial Supplement to the Revised Common Lectionary. Slemmons has done something that has needed to be done for quite some time, namely, to take most of the texts left out of the Revised Common Lectionary and arrange them into a cannonical year. While it doesn't encompass the entirety of those texts which cause us to wonder, "Why did the lectionary skip this chapter?" it does begin the work of helping us include as many of them as could reasonably be included in a cycle.
