It's time

Recent events show that it's finally time for my oldest son and I to have "THE TALK."

Any advice from a seasoned veteran?

(And if you don't know what I mean by "The Talk" then don't bother answering.)

Hmm, you and I are at about the same point. My son has already seen "the movie" at school. However, he's still innocent in many ways.

We recently acquired the movie "Transformers" on DVD. There is a scene where the main character is in his room; his parents come in and want to know what he's doing and why his door is locked. The mom asks, "were you masterbating?" The son (and Dad) are horrified by the question, so Mom says, "That's OK, we don't have to call it that. We can call it your 'happy time.'"

After watching it once with my 11 year-old son, he and I watched it again along with my 7 year-old son. I decided to fast-forward through that one scene. The eleven year-old was upset: "Dad, of all the scenes to fast-foward, why that one? There's nothing bad; all they do is talk about him having his 'quiet time'!"
