Today was one of the best days ever for sports fans everywhere.
Early in the day, Appalachian State, a Division I-AA school, went to the big house to get what everyone expected to be a drubbing by Michigan. Instead, they wound up walking out winners. Michigan is in for a long year. Maybe now those violins I always hear playing sad songs whenever Big Ten fans whine about their conference being underrated will fade into silence. I know Appalachian State won the I-AA title the last two years, but come on. It's Michigan!
Later in the day, Boston Red Sox rookie Clay Buchholz pitched a no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles. Good for you, kid.
Two truly historic sports moments...
What a great day to be a sports fan!
(And, by the way, the Jayhawks won today 52-7, against the defending MAC champions.)
